Run to JK! :)

Howdy All!

Okay, so it's not the whole episode, but here's a sizzling scene from "Baby the World's On Fire" (from the series Run For Your Life).

Watch as silver-tongued JK tries to convince Suzanne Pleshette that his dirty dealings are justified because the bomb might drop at any moment:

  1. One thing I've learned doing bios--a person's acting is often a mirror to real-life quirks, personality, etc. In this segment of "Run For Your Life," you see a LOT of the real Jack. Notice when he kisses his thumb. Jack would do that before he'd take off in an airplane--the Sign of the Cross, then kiss his thumb & raise it to the air in respect to "Big Max," his name for God.

I saw a lot of Jack in this piece. Thx for posting our way to it!

  3. Thanks for sharing this, Bartista. In the mid to late 1960s, Jack was doing a great deal of TV work. This episode of "Run For Your Life" is one of those examples, and it looks like a good one too.

And thank you, Linda, for your input as well. I didn't know Jack had that little ritual. It sounds like a remnant of his Roman Catholic upbringing. but I'm curious about something. Jack was cremated after he died and, from what I understand, the Catholic Church frowns on cremation. So it makes me wonder if Jack left the Catholic Church prior to his death.

  4. @Janet - Thanks as always for your kind comments! :)

@Linda - Thanks so much for pointing out these clues to the real Jack. BTW, I've read that JK was an enthusiastic private pilot and flew himself to his summer stock gigs in the 1960's? I know you will give us the low-down on his high-flying hobby! :->

@Pat - I might be able to answer your questions. In his interview in "Whatever Became Of? - Volume 10", JK describes himself as a "fallen away" Roman Catholic. As to cremation, the Catholic Church has relaxed its stance toward it somewhat. I found this link - http://catholic-bulletin.blogspot.com/2008/08/can-catholics-be-cremated.html - that explains it. Also, I think a priest was present at JK's funeral service? (Again, I know Linda will have more info about this).

Thanks, all, for reading and for commenting. :)
