Remembering Jack Kelly--That Maverick Actor and More
Howdy! A bunch of memorabilia from Jack Kelly's 1954 feature film Drive A Crooked Road has trickled into the Kellection lately, includi...
Nice photo, Bartista! Have a good weekend!

It is a nice photo, but I didn't like Roger Moore or Robert Colbert, as neither worked out in their roles. Only Jack worked out in his.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat, Bartista, and All...
ReplyDeleteI like Roger Moore as an actor, but don't think he was happy on "Maverick." And, Robert Colbert was just made to be a Garner 'look-alike,' and he was not happy and didn't stay on the series for more than a couple of episodes.
I love Jack Kelly...he was the reason I watched "Maverick." Not sure if he was really happy sometimes, while making the show, either, but I'm certainly happy he stuck with the show. <3

Wow, what a great photo! Never saw it before.
ReplyDeleteI think Moore was quite good in "Maverick" but somehow noticeably better in "The Saint," to judge from a single clip. Colbert wasn't on long enough to have a chance to warm up (even Garner wasn't humorous at first). This is a fine photograph. too bad Moore, Kelly, and Colbert couldn't have been on the series at the same time, as was obviously intended.
ReplyDeleteColbert, by the way, just wasn't called back for season 5. Nobody told him anything. And Kelly had to read about the cancellation a year later in the papers, nobody called him either.
ReplyDeleteThis only the third photo of the three of them together that I've ever seen. I imagine there are plenty more around somewhere; there's one fellow who has dozens if not hundreds of Warner Bros western photos. I had completely forgotten about this picture and was amazed to see that I'd left a comment! That's scary.
