Howdy! A bunch of memorabilia from Jack Kelly's 1954 feature film Drive A Crooked Road has trickled into the Kellection lately, includi...
OK, I HAVE to know the original context for this picture!
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! This is a publicity still for "Sale of the Century", which JK hosted on from 1969 to 1971. I just love the expression on his face. :) The snipe on the back of the pic says, "NEW TV HOST - Jack Kelly (remembered as TV's Bart Maverick) shows off one of the hundreds of prizes available on NBC Television Network's new daytime game show, 'Sale of the Century', which tests the general knowledge, reflexes and shopping savvy of three contestants each day. Designed for every housewife who has ever succumbed to the temptation to pick up an irresistible 'bargain', 'SOTC' premieres Monday, Sept. 29, (in color 11 to 11:30 am NYT). Jack is the new program's star and host."
ReplyDeleteThis is great, Bartista...haven't found anything relating to JK in SOTC in searches on the internet. I love his expression in this one, too! Thanks as always, for finding and sharing this great stuff!

ReplyDeleteI had no idea that Jack Kelly hosted "Sale of the Century'. The gems you find about him are priceless, LaB. Keep finding them. :D
ReplyDeleteHi La Bartista! It's Debbie Barth and Linda Alexander (we talked with you last year on The Three Wise Girls show. We are loving your blog and thought you might like to know that I had Linda on yet another show I co-host ... On The Grid. Not only was Linda fantabulous .... Jack's wife .... Jo, and daughter ... Nicole called in, as well as fans of Jack. I talked with Linda and she agreed you might enjoy the archive from yesterdays show. Personally, the more I found out about Jack, yesterday, the more in love I fell. Hope you enjoy the archieve of A Maverick Life: The Jack Kelly story by Linda Alexander. Wishing you monster success in all that you do!
